3DF Key Results 2010

Every day, the Three Diseases Fund touches the lives of thousands of vulnerable people across Myanmar. By the end of 2010 3DF was supporting 28 HIV projects, 8 TB projects, 9 malaria projects and 3 integrated projects across all States and Divisions. Lives are being saved, attitudes toward the diseases are changing and very importantly, 3DF has proven that humanitarian aid can be effectively delivered within Myanmar.

Key Results 2010

HIV
16 million condoms were distributed
16,000 people received anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs
290,000
most-at-risk-populations were reached at least once by prevention programmes
15,000 people living with HIV infection received community home-based package of support (without ART)

pregnant women accessed HIV testing and counselling service for HIV and received their test results

needles and syringes were distributed

Tuberculosis
42,000 new TB cases detected through sputum examination
35,000 new TB cases found through sputum examination that were successfully treated

increase in the number of community based referrals of TB suspected cases to health facilities in 2010 compared with 2009
128 people were treated for multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB)

Malaria
600,000 people were treated for malaria
110,000 long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) were distributed
430,000 bednets were re/treated
400,000 priority households were provided with at least one insecticide treated net (ITN) or LLIN
